Luca Bernabei bio:

Luca Bernabei is well known as one of the most productive Djs in the centre of Italy. His musical experience starts as a drum player and since the early 90’s he begins his experimental path as a Dj in the dance music scenery. In 1992 Luca launches the “Fast Group”, one of the first italian organization teams of raves and parties.

In the meantime, from 1994 till 1997, he becomes dj resident by the most important progressive music clubs in Tuscany: Ashram, Paradise, Tendenza, Blue Kaos. In 1995 Luca creates “Music Priority” based in Florence till 2000. MP becomes one of the best rave parties organization group in collaboration with european masters as Sound Conspiracy from England, Okupè and Mutoid from France, Livello 57 from Bologna/Italy. MP also joins the Technival Festival. From 2000 to 2003 Luca starts to work with the label Urban Mantra Records in Florence, producing the vinyl tracks “Techno Respect” and “932 s.l.m.”, he joins the Urban Mantra Festivals, he organizes “Florence Play Techno” and as well the first national “Street Parade” in Florence (2002). In the same year Basic.ch, a Swiss web-radio, starts broadcasting his live sets.
In the year 2004 he turns his dj-ing from vinyl to one of the most important digital mixing softwares: Traktor (Native Instruments). Tracks, productions, samples and effects take then part into Luca’s sets, developing an extremely accurate, harmonic, quality tech-house/techno performance. He becomes a minimal techno/tech-house composer, getting Avid Pro-Tools and Ableton Live certifications by “Percorsi Audio” the only Apple, Ableton and Avid certified training center in Italy, where Luca is also a Dj-ing trainer. In 2010, together with producers, musicians, Vjs, visual designers and video editors Luca creates MothLab, a contemporary culture project, a combination of electronic music and visual arts. MothLab means events production, live djsets, live concerts of electronica bands, real time videos, live vj-ing, mapping and video editing.

In 2011 he launches MothLab Recordings, a digital label based primarily on techno/tech-house, electronica and dance music, spreading an interconnection between the European background of Techno and Electronica sounds and the new creations from the American underground music industry.Luca is a dj, a producer, a party organizer, he brings MothLab on tour, especially in New York: Bar 13, Sullivan Room, Open House, Karma Lounge just to name a few. Since 2010 his sets are broadcasted on Galileo Radio Show on Proton Radio. Luca’s productions in 2011/2012: “The Young Laundry Ep”, “A small Zoo In My Mind Ep”, “MothMan EP”, “Miss Hankey Ep” – Tracks: “The Fourtheenth Science” (Borders Ep-Various Artists) , “Patterns” Remix (Patterns Ep-MAKr), “Heaven” (Luca Bernabei Remix) – Labels: MothLab Recordings, Bavaria Recordings, Muenchen, Electro Superstar, Dance All Ways Digital, Hero In My Hood, Audiofase Recordings.

Mothlab:

MothLab, a production project with its primary focus on electronic music and visual arts, was created to expand the different strengths of its co-founders and partners. MothLab has one unique purpose: to push the boundaries of the mixed-media arts process. A collective of Producers, Musicians, DJs, Video Editors, VJs, Sound Engineers and Web Designers, its members are global, but mainly based in Italy and New York. For this reason, the sound may be considered Italian/American with a visual growth plan.
The MothLab Recordings label provides an outlet for its artists and is the principal aim of the project. The productions are distributed on Beatport,
I-Tunes, DjShop.de, Juno Download, Amazon, Dj Tunes, Dj Download and many more. MothLab also means electronic music and event productions, live djsets, live concerts of electronica bands, real time videos, live vjing, compositing and mapping. The group is totally independent in art direction, audio/visual installations, graphic and visual design, music and video production, post production, promotion and training.

Jyre Records and new label entrant DIRTYCLEAN have a burner on their hands with the ‘Game of Sounds/Dub X’ EP continuing the label’s foray into the deeper reaches of the tech-house jungle. The A-side ‘Game of Sounds’ holds a machete high-hat against the throat of a crystal-deep bass-line, teasing you with reverb-driven, simian samples that explode after a nearly 90 second breakdown. A 120bpm heart of darkness, ideal for spring set buildups. With ‘Dub X,’ DIRTYCLEAN throws a twisted set of beats on the grill, setting echo- driven vocal samples and a twisting bass against offsetting horn and piano stabs. While offering a much more pronounced variety of musical variables, the net effect remains a growling snarl of a minimal animal. On the remix tip, Boaz brings a peak effort–an incredibly pounding, epic techno masterwork that throttles into overdrive as it rolls the original’s bass and sample set into a crushing, multi-layered storm of swords. The Jyre remix then flips the script on your ears, with deeper melodic synths parting the groove for a glimpse of sunshine through the jungle canopy. Nothing but solid additions to your spring and summer crates! Track List: 1. Game of Sounds (Original mix) 2. [...]

Figueroa : https://www.facebook.com/figueroamusic

SCI+TEC / Viral Cutz / Inmotion Music / Rawthentic / Sleep Is Commercial / Unike Mizik

Biography
Figueroa is probably the main name on the underground Techno and House scene of Colombia.

Born and raised in this beautiful country and now based in London he’s the head of “Malicious Smile” records and “Viral Cutz” along with his partner Obando.

In the last years he has created a distinct sound that blends the energy of Techno so perfectly with all the colors of House music. His amazing 3 decks DJ set has led him to play in the best clubs from Colombia and featured in some festivals overseas and his productions have always had great support from names like: Dubfire, Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola.

The very first approach to electronic music was through some 90′s dance tapes he used to listen while studying, this was the spark for his idea to create mind stories and make the people dance at the same time. Around 1999 he turned into rock music and learned to play the guitar, he spent about two years playing with his band and recording demos, by that time the electronic scene was growing in his country and he find himself again caught between the beats.

After becoming a regular raver he achieved a vast collection of records and influences and decided to definitely turn music into his lifestyle, so he learnt to play the turntables and started making his own beats, soon he became a favorite and started playing at mayor events as a warmer for the international artists but the audience pushed him to the main stage.

Actually his sound flows between the best of the Chicago essence and the dark and strong groove of modern techno, leaving no space for complaints

Resopal Red, Definitive, Blaou among others, Mathias is rightfully known as a one of the most influential figures in the development of modern electronic music.

And we snagged him just for you – check out Diggy’s interview with Mathias and learn more about his own background and current take on the electronic music scene in Europe, as well as details on his latest project FANATICO with Jorge Socarras (or how to record an incredible album in less than a week!)….followed by an exclusive audio mix for ER. Can’t get better than that – enjoy.

More about Mathias Schaffhäuser:

Schaffhäuser’s motto at the turntables is: Purism sucks! The quality of the music is what’s important, not sheer functionality and a perfect mix. That is: at times his sets can be rather varied from Ware-style music, nice + smooth neo-house and funky minimal to thumping techno. His current favourites come from labels such as Prologue, Islands & Islets/Sthlm, Deep Data, Cynosure, Snork, 3rd Wave, Mobilée, Vakant, Circus Company – just to name a few.
More about Nadja Lind:

When it comes to describing Nadja Lind, a dispassionate third person box ticking exercise doesn’t really cut it. Sure, she has the credentials: a DJing career that kicked off on New Years Eve 2003 and has spawned a typically globetrotting calendar, a production career that has seen several works as either a solo artist or with Klartraum production partner Helmut Ebritsch, and the dizzying heights of being co-owner of the Lucidflow imprint with Helmut, a record label which has seriously started to rack up quality releases and remixes, seeing the likes of John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo pluck from the catalogue, a seal of quality like no other. Tick, tick, tick … the facts are all there.

His production style is as uncompromising as his dj sets are powerful: a track is rehearsed many times, then recorded live on mostly analogue gear with no edits or overdubbing later. His dj sets have the same spontaneous bite. His main output has been on his own GEOPHONE label, on which he has released to date [...]

Mike Parker Bio:

Over the years, his education in the visual arts has had a profound impact on the music he produces. His production style is as uncompromising as his dj sets are powerful: a track is rehearsed many times, then recorded live on mostly analogue gear with no edits or overdubbing later. His dj sets have the same spontaneous bite. His main output has been on his own GEOPHONE label, on which he has released to date fourteen unrelenting, throbbing techno cuts, remixed (very rarely) by the likes of Donato Dozzy & Woody McBride. Mike’s other releases include recordings for Orange Groove, Labrynth & Dozzy records. Recent releases include a remix of classic Aubrey for MOWAR and a track on SPECTRAL SOUND, also included on Ryan Elliot’s recent “Document’ compilation. Strong mixes for mnml ssg have further increased the devoted following to his tight & powerful DJ sets. Mike has previously toured Europe & Japan including the Labyrinth festival.

- CRAFT
Twice as Proper/Party People/Feed The Raver

Born in NYC, Craft bought his technics 1200′s & Vestax mixer at age 14 with his own life savings in 1994. He taught himself the skill of beat matching and studied the art of blending tracks smoothly to perfection with persistence. He began producing music in 1999 under the name “Craft”. He performs regularly in the NYC underground techno scene for his established “Twice as Proper” techno events and other local showcase events. He evolved from the Vinyl-only days to CDj’s of all types, and now often performs live with his controllers. In 2010, Craft traveled to Europe for his Italy Dj tour to Milan, Rome, and Terracina, then experienced an incredible Costa Rica DJ Tour covered by much media attention (national radio and TV). Craft ended up the year by hosting 8 Twice as Proper events in 5 stunning venues in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. In 2011, Craft performed on the main stage at “The Works” during DEMF/Movement (Detroit Electronic Music Festival), as well as in Washington DC at Funxion and Sweet Spot clubs, and also at Boston’s famous Rise afterhours club as headliner in the main room for 5-hours. He was finally approached by countless labels for remixes and original EP’s and is now signed on over 20 top labels based in 9 countries. Craft currently has 6 EP’s released plus dozens of remixes and collaborations. In 2012, Craft showcased for Cultured Citizens event at The Old Miami in Detroit, and performed at an incredible 5 after parties during Detroit’s Movement Festival 2012, including performances at The Works, Belle Isle, Bookie’s, TV Bar, and Motor-City Wine. Later in the year, Craft headlined again at The Works for a “Devolve Detroit” event.

Craft co-created the NYC techno movement “Twice as Sweet” with his partner Shadi in 2007. It was later renamed “Twice as Proper” and has reached an impressive “over 200 events” and counting in the past 5 years with an illustrious list of over 100 guest DJ bookings. “Feed The Raver Podcast show” was founded and hosted by Craft himself along with Jenny Arredondo. It debuted worldwide on March 3rd 2012 with interviews and guest techno DJ sets from a different city around the world every 2 weeks. Feed The Raver officially partnered with Detroit’s Movement festival media coverage in 2012 interviewing international techno DJ’s as well as promoting the festival itself. Craft also created and designed the “Party People” T-Shirt which has a history of its own…

Craft first began producing in 1999 with programs such as ReBirth (which emulates two Roland TB-303 synthesizers, a Roland TR-808, and a Roland TR-909 drum machine all at once) and Cakewalk for final arrangements. He then used strictly Reason for five years, from its first version launched in 2000 through version 3 when he finally migrated to Apple’s Logic 7 in 2005. Today he continues to use mainly Logic, which has now reached version 9 (aka Logic Pro) as well as Maschine, Ableton, Reason and other plugins. Craft taught himself everything and is a true master at using the complicated features of this professional music production software. The results are evident with the continuous smashing releases which have now earned him an international reputation, 14 years in the making..

It was so much fun to take a look back at all our footage from the last couple of years, and a huge thanks to everyone who participated in the making of this clip, including director/editor Ashwin Gandbhir, some of our favorite producers who shared their tracks (Ken Masters, Duckhunter, Sam Jaspersohn, Boaz, The House Cartel, and everyone who we interviewed and got to show their love for the electronic underground scene.
Rebel Yell: Speechless! With ER friends Chris Schoedel, Stephen Eaves, Matias Jofre, and the House Cartel upping their game on a week-by-week basis, we’ve seen the gang’s Momentum events grow tremendously in the last few months. And with poor Dusty Kid left in Europe due to flight issues, there was no better man to take the reigns for Momentum’s latest at NYC Rebel than Berlin maestro, Andreas Henneberg. The Voltage Musique label-head rolled into town and pulled out a set that’s already got premier status as our most downloaded podcast to-date! A can’t-miss audio-fantastique experience that we can’t wait to replicate the next time Andreas is in town. Nuff said and enjoy.
More About Andreas Henneberg

Born in Berlin and still living, loving & working in this beautiful pulsating city. Founder of Voltage Musique Records and “Cascandy” as well as part of “The Glitz” and “Hennon”. Feeling home at the well established and in Bremen based “Plantage13” family. Releasing on record labels like IDEAL Audio, Voltage Musique, Confused Recordings, Herzblut, AREAL, Kiddaz.FM, Material and Toolroom. Truly one of the most productive people in electronic music scene even if you don’t know. You can find him behind the scenes since the mid 90’s as a producer, label owner, mastering-engineer and of course as a DJ. A vast number of productions, publications and releases are the result of 15 years studio and label experience.
Andreas is located somewhere between Tech-house, Minimal and Techno simply because he is killing all borders around. In his Dj-Sets he is summing up these genres in a very compatible and functional way.
